Bane vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Getting a Fiend's Grip off on Wraith King feels like a trap. Bane’s entire game plan revolves around removing one hero from a fight, but Reincarnation completely neutralizes that threat. Even if Bane’s team follows up and secures the first kill, Wraith King comes back to life while Fiend’s Grip is on its longest cooldown. Bane is then forced to either hold his ultimate for a less important target or risk wasting it entirely. His single-target drain from Brain Sap also feels insignificant against a hero who is naturally durable and has a full second life to rely on.

This dynamic defines the matchup from the mid-game onward. Wraith King can confidently initiate fights, knowing he can absorb Bane's best spell and still return to clean up. This puts Bane in an impossible position: either he channels on a two-life hero, leaving himself vulnerable, or he lets the enemy carry do whatever he wants. The only real counterplay for Bane is to wait for Reincarnation to be down, but a smart Wraith King will simply not show up to a fight without his ultimate ready, effectively giving his team control over the map and timing.
