Bane vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Getting a clean pickoff is how Bane's team usually gets ahead, but Tidehunter makes that incredibly difficult. Tidehunter's natural tankiness and his Kraken Shell mean he can often passively dispel Fiend's Grip after taking a bit of damage, completely wasting Bane's most important spell. Even if Bane tries to grip a different target, Tidehunter can usually find an angle to interrupt the channel from a safe distance with Ravage. This forces Bane to either hold his ultimate or risk it having zero impact, which is a huge problem for his team's fight plan.

This dynamic lets Tidehunter’s team group up and move as a unit much earlier and more safely. They can pressure towers and take map control without fearing a sudden numbers disadvantage created by Bane's lockdown. The pressure is then on the Bane player to find a perfect moment—perhaps after Ravage has already been used, or on a target caught far away from Tidehunter. It's a waiting game that heavily favors the team that isn't afraid of a full five-on-five clash.
