Beastmaster vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map with an army of summons gets difficult when the enemy can clear them so efficiently. Magnus can give himself or an ally Empower, and the resulting cleave damage makes short work of Beastmaster's Boars and other minions. This denies Beastmaster the ability to build momentum and pressure towers, as his push is constantly whittled down for free. When Beastmaster does commit his team to a fight, they tend to cluster around him and his units, creating a perfect setup for a multi-hero Reverse Polarity that can turn the entire engagement.

The matchup often comes down to vision and initiation. A well-played Beastmaster uses his Hawks to scout for Magnus and avoid getting caught off guard by a Blink Dagger play. Primal Roar is also a powerful tool to cancel Reverse Polarity or to pick off Magnus before a fight can even begin. However, Magnus only needs one good opening to capitalize on Beastmaster's grouped-up fighting style. If Magnus can find that opening, he can halt Beastmaster’s objective-based game plan in its tracks.
