Beastmaster vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Landing a Primal Roar on Void Spirit is difficult. With good timing, he can use Dissimilate to completely dodge the stun projectile, leaving Beastmaster and his army standing there with their main disable on cooldown. Even without Dissimilate, Void Spirit’s constant repositioning with Astral Step makes him a slippery target to line up. Beastmaster's entire game plan of isolating and bursting a single hero is unreliable against a target this mobile. On the other hand, if the Roar does connect, Void Spirit has no way to escape the stun and will almost certainly die to the follow-up damage from Beastmaster’s summons.

The matchup often comes down to vision and execution. Beastmaster will try to initiate from fog of war to give Void Spirit less time to react. He may also need a teammate with an instant disable to set up his own stun. For his part, Void Spirit has to play respectfully when Roar is available, using his mobility to farm aggressively on other parts of the map and force reactions. He can hunt Beastmaster’s allies, but has to be careful not to get caught out of position himself. The outcome is rarely certain, depending heavily on which hero gets the jump.
