Catching a Primal Split with Spell Steal is what a Rubick player dreams of. Getting a second set of pandas on the field provides a massive amount of control and damage that can completely reverse the course of a teamfight. However, a good Brewmaster knows this and will often try to cast Cinder Brew immediately after splitting, forcing a mind game. Stealing the brew is fine, but it isn't the game-winning play that getting the ultimate is. The entire interaction hinges on a split-second decision from both players.

This tension defines the matchup at all stages. Brewmaster is a tough hero who excels at jumping the back line, and a fragile Rubick is his ideal target. If Brewmaster can get on top of him, Rubick often dies before he can react. Rubick’s goal, then, is to position safely and wait for his moment. He has to survive the initial chaos, let Brewmaster commit to the fight, and then find the right window to steal a key spell.
