Bristleback vs Oracle

How this matchup plays

Saving a core from Bristleback with False Promise seems like the right play, but it doesn't solve the core problem. Bristleback's threat isn't a single burst of damage that can be negated; it's the constant, stacking physical damage from Quill Spray that wears down an entire team. While Oracle commits his ultimate to save one hero, Bristleback is free to continue building up quill stacks on everyone else, including Oracle himself. The saved target might survive the ultimate's duration, but often finds themself alone as the rest of their team has been overwhelmed by the sustained area damage.

This dynamic means Bristleback doesn't get shut down by Oracle's presence in teamfights. If one target becomes invulnerable, he can simply ignore them and run at a new one. Oracle excels at stopping a pickoff, but he struggles to peel a hero who wants to be in the middle of everyone. The Oracle player is forced into a difficult position, trying to kite and save allies while Bristleback consistently applies pressure to his whole team. It's not a hard counter, but Bristleback's game plan is simply less affected by what Oracle wants to do.
