Clinkz vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst a support is a natural instinct for Clinkz, but it's a fatal mistake against Shadow Shaman. The problem is that Clinkz is all about unloading a huge amount of damage in a very short window, and Shaman's kit is designed to interrupt exactly that. An instant Hex completely negates the initial surprise attack, leaving Clinkz helpless and exposed. Shadow Shaman can then follow up with Shackles, holding Clinkz in place for an eternity while his team collapses for an easy kill. The very lockdown that makes them a great offensive pair is what makes this a terrible matchup.

This interaction shapes the entire game. Clinkz loses his ability to confidently roam for solo kills, as accidentally finding Shadow Shaman is a death sentence. Trying to push high ground is a nightmare; Mass Serpent Ward creates a massive dead zone, and stepping forward to hit the tower means walking right into disable range. Clinkz is forced into buying a Black King Bar much earlier than he'd want, delaying his damage items and slowing his tempo. Shaman, meanwhile, can play aggressively, knowing the enemy's primary ganker can't realistically threaten him.
