Doom vs Drow Ranger

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can walk up and cast Doom on Drow Ranger is a common mistake. In reality, she has all the tools to keep him at a distance. Her Gust provides a long silence and knockback that can interrupt his approach, and a few Frost Arrows will negate Scorched Earth, leaving him struggling to close the gap. Doom is completely reliant on landing a perfect Blink Dagger initiation to even have a chance to use his ultimate, as Drow Ranger can simply kite him and shoot him from a safe range otherwise.

This dynamic defines the matchup from the mid-game onward. Drow Ranger will position far behind her team, making it a suicide mission for Doom to try and reach her. A failed jump leaves him exposed and easily killed. Doom's best bet is to target a different hero, but that often leaves the primary damage source free to control the fight. Drow, on the other hand, can treat him like a slow creep, melting his low base armor with her physical damage before he becomes a threat to anyone.
