Doom vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Holding map control against Phantom Assassin can be tough for Doom because his main tool is so easily countered. His ultimate, Doom, is meant to delete a key hero, but PA’s natural item build includes a Black King Bar. This timing means Doom is on a clock; he must find her before she gets it or wait for it to expire in a fight. Phantom Assassin doesn't need to change her game plan to deal with him. She can farm safely with 'Stifling Dagger' and use 'Phantom Strike' to escape ganks, making it difficult for Doom to disrupt her progression and create the opening he needs.

The game often comes down to a race. Doom and his team must pressure PA constantly to delay her BKB. If they succeed, he can dictate the mid-game fights by locking her down. Usually, however, PA manages to find the space she needs to farm. Once she has her items, the tables turn. She can blink on Doom and burst him down with 'Coup de Grace' crits before he can react. Without a reliable way to stop her, Doom is often forced onto the defensive, unable to exert the control he normally would.
