Doom vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Casting spells near a Pugna is always a calculated risk, and Doom is no exception. A well-placed Nether Ward punishes Doom heavily for using his ultimate, potentially turning his own initiation against him with a burst of magic damage. Pugna can also use Decrepify to save an ally from Doom's follow-up physical attacks, buying crucial time for a counter-attack. Life Drain is another major threat, as Doom often lacks a reliable way to interrupt the channel from a distance and can be forced to retreat or take massive damage if he can’t close the gap.

This matchup is a constant game of positioning and initiation. If Doom can find and jump on Pugna before a fight begins, Pugna's low health pool means he will almost certainly die to the ultimate. This forces the Pugna player to stay far in the back and rely on good team vision. Until Doom can afford a Black King Bar to ignore the Ward, he has to be very careful about how he commits. It really comes down to which hero gets to execute their plan first, as a mistake from either side can be immediately fatal.
