Doom vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Sniper is critical, but Doom fundamentally lacks the tools to do it. Sniper can farm safely from a distance, using Shrapnel to secure large areas and slow down any attempt to close the gap. This keeps Doom from farming his own key items with Devour, delaying the Blink Dagger he desperately needs. Even with his Blink, Doom has to cross a huge gap to reach his target, often getting slowed or taking heavy damage from Sniper’s long-range attacks before he can even get his ultimate off.

This pressure dictates the entire flow of the game. Sniper’s team can comfortably push objectives, knowing Doom has to execute a perfect, deep flank to be effective. The problem is that a well-positioned Sniper is usually so far back that Doom has to run past the entire enemy team to get to him. This makes initiating a suicide mission. More often than not, Doom gets kited and focused down long before he can disable the one hero he needs to kill.
