Doom vs Storm Spirit

How this matchup plays

Casting Doom on Storm Spirit feels like the obvious answer to his mobility, but it's rarely that simple. Storm is one of the fastest heroes to farm items that can block single-target spells, forcing Doom or his allies to have another way to break the shield first. If Storm gets the jump, he can often force out the ultimate and escape, leaving his team to fight while Doom's biggest spell is on cooldown. This turns a theoretical counter into a test of initiation and timing, as Storm can play freely whenever Doom's ultimate isn't a direct threat.

Throughout the mid-game, the fight revolves around this cooldown. Storm Spirit will try to make plays on the other side of the map or wait until he sees Doom used on an ally. A successful Storm player has to respect Doom's position and not get caught without his team. In response, Doom often has to hold his ultimate specifically for Storm, which can be a problem if the enemy team has other high-priority threats that need to be controlled. The game often comes down to which player makes the first mistake or whose team better supports their plan.
