Doom vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Facing a Zeus means constantly being harassed from a distance you can't retaliate from. Doom is built to get in close and disable a key target with his ultimate, but he struggles to cover the ground needed to reach Zeus without taking heavy magic damage first. A well-positioned Zeus can often sit behind his entire team, making him an almost impossible target for Doom to initiate on. Even when Doom manages to use his ultimate on a different hero, Zeus is usually left completely free to unload spell after spell, often punishing Doom himself for trying to frontline.

Throughout the game, Doom is forced into a difficult choice. He can try a risky Blink Dagger play to jump on Zeus, but this usually ends with him isolated in the enemy backline and quickly focused down. The alternative is for Doom to use his ultimate on a more accessible target, but this strategy ignores the biggest magical threat on the map. Zeus's ability to reveal low-health heroes with Thundergod's Wrath also makes it difficult for Doom to disengage after a pickoff attempt, leaving him exposed.
