Drow Ranger vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Lion usually means you're dead, but Drow Ranger often has an out. Lion relies on chaining his disables together, and Drow's Gust can break that chain. A quick Gust right after his initial stun can silence Lion before he can get Hex or Finger of Death off. This buys her the crucial second or two needed to create distance with Frost Arrows or simply run away. It's a reaction-based play, so it's not guaranteed, but having that tool prevents Lion from easily deleting her from a fight the way he can with other squishy cores.

This dynamic shifts throughout the game. In the laning phase, Lion is a huge threat to the immobile Drow Ranger and can easily set up kills on her. As the game progresses, however, Drow's items give her more ways to survive his initiation. Once she has a Black King Bar or even just a Dragon Lance for positioning, Lion struggles to find a good angle to jump her. Drow, on the other hand, can melt a misplaced Lion from a screen away before he can even react, making teamfights difficult for him.
