Closing the distance on Drow Ranger is often how Luna loses this fight. Drow's Gust provides a long-duration silence that prevents Luna from casting Eclipse, and the knockback creates immediate distance. This single ability can completely shut down Luna’s attempt to get on top of a target and burst them. Since Marksmanship requires Drow to keep enemies away to be active, Gust is the perfect tool to maintain her ideal fighting position. Luna’s main advantage lies in her bouncing Moon Glaives, which punish teams that clump around Drow, but she has to survive the initial engagement to make them work.

The matchup becomes a duel of positioning and key cooldowns. Both heroes farm exceptionally fast, so the fight often comes down to who gets the jump and with what items. Drow Ranger plays to kite with Frost Arrows and hold Gust for the moment Luna commits with an item like Black King Bar.
