Drow Ranger vs Morphling

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a Drow Ranger can be frustrating for Morphling. Her Gust provides an instant silence, which is a big problem because it shuts down Attribute Shift. Without the ability to quickly swap his stats to strength for survivability, Morphling becomes surprisingly fragile and easy to kill. The constant kiting from Frost Arrows also makes it difficult for him to get in close and stay on top of Drow, forcing him to respect her range or risk getting picked off before he can deal his damage.

This means Morphling needs a specific plan to deal with her. He has to either wait for Gust to be used on someone else, get a clean jump on Drow Ranger before she can react, or eventually build an item that can block or remove the silence. Drow’s game plan is to stay safely in the back and hold her silence for the moment Morphling commits. The fight often comes down to who gets the drop on whom, but Drow Ranger usually has the better tool to dictate the engagement.
