Drow Ranger vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

The fight between these two often comes down to a single question: can Troll Warlord get on top of Drow Ranger? Troll's whole game plan is to activate Battle Trance and run straight at his target. If he connects, his slows and high attack speed will tear through Drow. But Drow is built to prevent exactly that. Her Frost Arrows offer a constant slow to keep him at arm's length, and a well-timed Gust can completely stop his charge, pushing him away and silencing him. It's a pure battle of gap-close versus kiting potential.

How this plays out depends entirely on who gets the jump and what items they have. A Troll Warlord emerging from the fog with an initiation item can end Drow before she reacts. On the other hand, if Drow Ranger's team has good vision and peel, she can safely chip him down from a distance while her allies control him. It becomes less about the heroes themselves and more about team execution. This same tension is probably why they don't play well together either; they both want to be the centerpiece carry, but their kits don't directly help each other secure that role.
