Drow Ranger vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to go on Drow Ranger can feel awkward. Windranger relies on Windrun to survive after committing with Shackleshot, but Drow’s Gust provides an instant silence that removes that safety net. This leaves Windranger vulnerable and unable to escape. The constant slow from Frost Arrows also makes it difficult for her to maintain the perfect distance needed to line up a stun, allowing Drow to control the spacing of the fight from the start. Marksmanship's armor-piercing attacks further punish Windranger, ignoring a common source of physical damage reduction.

This dynamic means Windranger has to be more careful with her initiations. She needs to get the jump on Drow from fog or with a Blink Dagger, hoping to land a stun and burst her down before she can react. If Drow Ranger sees her coming, she can simply knock her back with Gust and kite her to death. The matchup often comes down to which hero has better vision and positioning; Windranger can still win the fight if she initiates cleanly, but Drow holds a consistent defensive answer to her core abilities.
