Earth Spirit vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a slippery hero like Phantom Assassin is what Earth Spirit does best. His combination of stuns and a silence can interrupt her as she blinks in, saving a core from her burst damage. However, Phantom Assassin's own mobility from Phantom Strike can make her a difficult target to pin down. She can use it to dodge a Rolling Boulder or to instantly close the gap on Earth Spirit if he gets too close. His magical damage bypasses her evasion, but she has the tools to avoid his setup entirely if she plays it right.

The game often comes down to which hero can dictate the pace. An active Earth Spirit can make the map dangerous, disrupting Phantom Assassin's farm and slowing her key item timings. As the game progresses, though, a farmed Phantom Assassin with a Black King Bar can ignore his spells and becomes a direct threat to him. It's a matchup of initiation and counter-initiation, where whoever gets the jump usually comes out ahead in that specific skirmish, but neither hero consistently dominates the other across the whole game.
