Earth Spirit vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a Spectre with Earth Spirit's combo often feels underwhelming. Spectre's durability from Dispersion naturally blunts the impact of Magnetize and its follow-up damage. While Earth Spirit is great at locking down a target, Spectre is one of the few carries that doesn't mind being the center of attention for a few seconds. The damage she reflects can punish Earth Spirit and any allies who follow up on his initiation, turning his own aggression against his team. She is fundamentally resilient to his specific type of control and damage over time.

This forces Earth Spirit to change his game plan. Instead of trying to gank Spectre directly, he'll find more success targeting her more fragile teammates to slow her game down indirectly. In later teamfights, Spectre can often ignore Earth Spirit's stuns and silences, using Haunt to jump on his own backline. Earth Spirit's spells aren't strong enough to reliably peel a farmed Spectre off his supports, leaving him to deal with the aftermath of her assault rather than proactively starting his own fights.
