Earthshaker vs Monkey King

How this matchup plays

Fighting into a Monkey King ultimate feels less like a problem and more like an opportunity. The soldiers from Wukong's Command are perfect fuel for an Echo Slam, often turning Monkey King's biggest teamfight contribution into an instant loss for his own team. It's a fundamental counter that defines the entire matchup. Beyond that, Earthshaker is well-equipped to deal with Monkey King's mobility. A well-placed Fissure can trap him after he initiates or knock him out of a tree from a safe distance, making it very difficult for him to escape ganks or reposition safely.

This dynamic forces the Monkey King player to operate under constant pressure. He can’t confidently use his ultimate to secure objectives or start a fight if Earthshaker is missing from the map. This often means he needs to rush a Black King Bar and try to find and kill Earthshaker before committing, which is predictable and risky. The Earthshaker simply needs to exist, holding his spells to create space and control the tempo. Even if MK manages to get his ultimate off, a trade of Echo Slam for Wukong's Command is almost always a win for Earthshaker's side.
