Ember Spirit vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Catching an Ember Spirit with Reverse Polarity is a high-risk play. The timing window on Sleight of Fist allows Ember to dodge the stun entirely, and even if he is caught, a pre-placed Fire Remnant lets him escape immediately after. This makes him a very difficult primary target for Magnus's most important spell. In the laning phase, Ember's Flame Guard can also absorb the majority of damage from Shockwave, making it hard for Magnus to establish dominance or force him out with magical burst. Ember Spirit has the specific tools needed to disarm the biggest threats Magnus presents.

This dynamic forces Magnus to make a tough choice during teamfights. Attempting to lock down Ember Spirit can lead to a completely wasted ultimate, but ignoring him allows Ember to freely output damage on the fight's perimeter. The edge is only slight because a good Magnus can simply choose to focus on Ember's more vulnerable teammates, and a well-placed Reverse Polarity on two other heroes can still win the fight on its own. The pressure is on Ember to position correctly and on Magnus to identify the right target when the moment comes.
