Ember Spirit vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to hit the whole enemy team with Sleight of Fist feels great until Spectre is in the game. Her ability to reflect damage means Ember Spirit's own teamfight spell will start hurting him and his nearby allies. This makes it risky for Ember to use his main area damage tool, especially once Spectre has some survivability items. He wants to be in the middle of the fight, chaining his spells, but Dispersion punishes him for doing exactly that. It's a fundamental conflict with how his kit is designed to work in big clashes.

Ember Spirit can have a good early game, but this matchup gets harder for him over time. He has to think twice before jumping in, and his target selection becomes much more important. Instead of trying to burst the whole group, he might have to focus on picking off a support who is far away from Spectre. Meanwhile, Spectre doesn't mind prolonged fights. Her global presence from Haunt can also lock down a slippery Ember, making it harder for him to split-push effectively or escape after a fight goes south. He can still find plays, but she limits his options.
