Choosing a tempo-setting midlaner often comes down to how well they can control the early game, and that's where this matchup is decided. Storm Spirit's trading pattern relies on magic damage from his spells, which Ember Spirit’s Flame Guard can completely absorb. This allows Ember to play aggressively, dominate the lane, and build an early lead. Furthermore, Searing Chains provides a root, which is one of the best forms of control against a hero who relies on Ball Lightning to escape danger. Storm can't easily get away once Ember Spirit gets on top of him.
