Ember Spirit vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trading magical burst damage with an Ember Spirit often goes poorly for Void Spirit. The issue is Flame Guard, which can absorb a significant amount of the spell damage Void relies on to win the lane. Once that initial burst is soaked, Ember Spirit gets to run at you with his shield's burn, and his own physical damage from Sleight of Fist isn't blocked by Void's Resonant Pulse shield. This gives Ember a slight edge in early trades, forcing Void Spirit to play more cautiously than he'd like.

Later on, this dynamic continues. Void Spirit wants to initiate fights by catching key targets with Aether Remnant, but Ember has multiple ways to dodge it or escape. He can use Sleight of Fist to avoid the pull or simply activate Flame Guard to reduce the follow-up damage and run away with a Fire Remnant. This forces Void to wait for Ember to commit his spells first, giving Ember control over the engagement and making him a very slippery target to lock down and kill.
