Ember Spirit vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Laning against Ember Spirit often feels like a stalemate for Windranger. While a good Shackleshot can secure a kill, Ember's mobility from Fire Remnants makes him a difficult target to pin down. He can often dodge the stun or escape before she can finish him. Similarly, Ember Spirit struggles to land a kill on Windranger by himself. His main source of physical damage, Sleight of Fist, is completely negated by her Windrun. His Flame Guard also absorbs the magic damage from Powershot, making it harder for Windranger to burst him down from range before he can escape.

This back-and-forth continues throughout the game. Ember typically uses his global presence to split-push and create pressure, knowing he can escape if Windranger shows up alone. Windranger, in turn, has to play around vision and her allies to find an opportunity for that perfect Shackleshot. The duel is often decided by who gets the jump and forces the other's defensive ability first. Ember wants to bait Windrun before committing his remnants for a kill, while Windranger is always looking for the one shackle angle that lets her use Focus Fire.
