Enigma vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

The matchup revolves almost entirely around Black Hole. Invoker has several spells that can interrupt a channeling Enigma, with Tornado being the most reliable and long-range option. Cold Snap and Deafening Blast can also do the job if Enigma is caught without spell immunity. Because of this, Enigma is forced to play cautiously and prioritize getting a Black King Bar. Without it, attempting a multi-hero Black Hole is incredibly risky, as Invoker can usually cancel it from a safe distance before it does any real damage.

This creates a constant cat-and-mouse game. Early on, Invoker can bully the lane and snipe Eidolons with Sun Strike. Later, teamfights depend on who acts first. A patient Enigma will wait for Invoker to use Tornado before committing Black Hole. A smart Invoker will hold that spell specifically to counter the initiation. It really comes down to execution, vision control, and BKB timings. Even if Enigma lands a BKB-piercing Black Hole, Invoker can still use his other abilities to slow or disrupt the follow-up, keeping the outcome of any fight uncertain.
