How this matchup plays

Drafting Lich into an Enigma pick is often about managing the Black Hole threat. Lich can technically interrupt Black Hole with Sinister Gaze, but this requires perfect positioning and timing before Enigma becomes spell immune. A more reliable contribution is casting Frost Shield on a key ally caught in the vortex, which can significantly reduce incoming follow-up damage. Chain Frost also punishes the clumped-up heroes that a good Black Hole creates, turning Enigma's ideal setup into a dangerous situation for his own team, even if it doesn't stop the channel itself.

This matchup often comes down to item timings and initiation. Enigma will focus on farming a Blink Dagger and eventually a Black King Bar to guarantee his channel goes uninterrupted. Lich’s job, along with his team, is to disrupt this farm using his slows against Eidolons and applying pressure across the map. Late-game teamfights become a tense standoff where Enigma tries to find an angle to blink past vision, while Lich has to position defensively, ready to react during that split-second cast animation before Black Hole is live.
