Shadow Shaman's Hex is a direct answer to Enigma's ultimate, able to interrupt the channel before it even gets going. This provides a reliable tool to prevent catastrophic teamfights, especially in the early and mid-game before magic immunity comes into play. The threat of this instant disable can force Enigma to play much more cautiously, making it harder to find his ideal setup.

A smart Enigma will recognize this threat and prioritize farming a Black King Bar. The entire game can pivot once that item is finished, as it completely neutralizes Shadow Shaman’s ability to cancel the ultimate.
