Faceless Void vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Controlling the big teamfights often comes down to one ultimate versus another. Faceless Void’s Chronosphere is a direct answer to a channeled Death Ward, completely shutting down Witch Doctor’s main source of damage. A well-placed Chrono can isolate and kill the Witch Doctor before he contributes anything. However, the reverse is also true. Maledict is a serious threat to Void, as it amplifies all damage he takes and ensures a burst of damage even if he uses Time Walk to escape. A pre-cast Maledict can make it too risky for Void to jump in.

This standoff means the game's tempo is key. Early on, Witch Doctor is generally stronger in lane and can disrupt Faceless Void's farm with Paralyzing Cask and consistent harass. If Witch Doctor’s team can capitalize on this and force objectives, they can build a lead Void can't overcome. But if the game stalls out and Void gets his core items, his team gains the advantage. It becomes a game of positioning and initiation where either hero can be the key to winning a fight, depending on who gets caught out first.
