Gyrocopter vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map and slowing down Gyrocopter's farm is where Invoker excels in this matchup. Gyrocopter needs to stay in fights and get close to deal damage with Rocket Barrage, but he has no innate escape and is quite fragile. Invoker has an enormous toolkit for punishing this. A Tornado can set up an EMP to drain Gyro's mana, leaving him unable to use his spells. Alternatively, a full Exort combo of Meteor and Deafening Blast can delete him from the fight before he contributes anything. Even Gyrocopter's Homing Missile is easily dodged or dispelled by Invoker's spells, removing one of his few lockdown tools.

From the laning stage onward, Invoker puts Gyrocopter on a timer. The threat of a global Sun Strike makes low-health farming a death sentence, which hurts Gyro's early item timings. In the mid-game, Gyrocopter wants to group and fight with his team, but Invoker can stall pushes and control teamfights from a safe distance. Gyro's solution is usually a Black King Bar, but a good Invoker can kite it with Ghost Walk or Ice Wall, waiting for the immunity to expire before disabling him again. Gyrocopter is always forced to react, rarely getting to play his own game.
