Gyrocopter vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by a Shadow Shaman is often a death sentence for Gyrocopter. The entire matchup revolves around Shaman’s ability to apply long, single-target disables. Gyrocopter wants to kite at the edge of fights, applying damage with Flak Cannon, but he has no innate defensive tools to deal with an instant Hex. Once caught, he is completely vulnerable to follow-up damage from Shaman's team. Shackles provides a second, even longer lockdown that guarantees Gyro can’t escape or turn the engagement.

This pressure starts in the laning stage, where the threat of a disable forces Gyrocopter to play passively. Later on, the game becomes a cat-and-mouse hunt. The Shadow Shaman will build a Blink Dagger specifically to find and initiate on Gyro before a teamfight properly begins. To survive, the Gyrocopter player is forced into an early Black King Bar and must rely heavily on his team's vision and positioning. Even then, playing against a competent Shaman feels like walking on a knife's edge for the entire game.
