Huskar vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped at night as Huskar is a nightmare against a good Riki. His Smoke Screen is the main problem: it silences you, preventing Life Break, and the miss chance makes it impossible to land the rapid attacks you need to win a fight. Huskar’s entire defensive model relies on gaining magic resistance at low health, but that does nothing against Riki’s physical backstabs. Even if you try to initiate with your ultimate, Riki can often dodge the impact completely with Tricks of the Trade, leaving you out of position with half your health gone for nothing.

This forces Huskar to play reactively during his own power spike. Normally Huskar wants to run at the enemy mid-game, but that’s exactly when Riki comes online to punish him. The Riki player can confidently hunt the map, knowing a single Smoke Screen can turn Huskar’s aggression into a free kill. To survive, Huskar is often forced into buying an early Black King Bar or a Ghost Scepter, delaying his own damage and tempo. Riki gets to play his game, while Huskar has to build specifically to survive him.
