Invoker vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Catching multiple heroes in a Reverse Polarity is Magnus's whole game plan, but Invoker is well-equipped to spoil that moment. A well-timed Tornado can lift Magnus before he can use his ultimate, or a Deafening Blast from the edge of the fight can push all of Magnus's allies away from the stunned targets, completely wasting the setup. Even a simple Cold Snap can interrupt Magnus's Blink Dagger if he's spotted for a moment before he jumps in. Invoker has several tools to dismantle the one big play Magnus relies on.

This turns mid-game teamfights into a tense positioning battle. The Magnus player is constantly probing, looking for that perfect multi-hero catch. In response, Invoker has to play carefully on the outskirts of the fight, ready to counter-initiate. If Magnus manages to catch Invoker in the initial Reverse Polarity, the fight is likely over. However, because Invoker has so many different ways to react and disrupt, he often has the upper hand in controlling the engagement, giving him a slight but noticeable edge across the game.
