Invoker vs Mars

How this matchup plays

Trying to use Arena of Blood on a key target feels awful against a good Invoker. He has a spell for every situation Mars creates. A well-timed Tornado can lift your primary target to safety, or lift Mars himself. Deafening Blast can push Mars away from his own spear wall and disarm him, making his physical damage useless. Even outside of the ultimate, spells like Ice Wall prevent Mars from positioning for a good spear, while EMP drains the mana he needs to be a threat in the first place.

This dynamic defines the entire game. Mars is on a strict timer to find and burst the Invoker, almost always needing a Blink Dagger and help from his team to close the gap before he can be controlled. Invoker, meanwhile, can play patiently from the back lines, waiting for Mars to commit his long-cooldown ultimate. Once Mars shows himself, Invoker has all the tools to not only save his own team but also turn the fight completely around by disabling Mars and his allies.
