Invoker vs Razor

How this matchup plays

Blowing up Razor with a full combo seems like Invoker's main plan, but it's rarely that simple. If Razor manages to apply a full Static Link, he completely guts Invoker's ability to fight back, whether it's through right-clicks or spells that rely on follow-up. This forces the Invoker player to react defensively. Thankfully, Invoker has plenty of tools to create distance or interrupt the link, such as Tornado, Deafening Blast, or Ghost Walk. The entire duel hinges on whether Razor can stay on top of his target or if Invoker can successfully kite and disengage to set up his own spells.

The result is a matchup that often feels like a knife's edge from the laning stage onward. One hero getting a small advantage can quickly dictate the tempo for the next several minutes. Razor wants to force engagements and run at people once he gets his core items, using Eye of the Storm to melt a key target. Invoker prefers to control fights from a distance, using his global presence with Sun Strike or landing a big spell combination. Ultimately, the game often comes down to which player better executes their hero's specific game plan and gets the superior initiation.
