Keeping a Storm Spirit from taking over the map often means draining his mana pool. Invoker has a direct answer for this with EMP, which can force Storm back to base, ruin his farming patterns, and stop him from ganking. The threat isn't only mana burn; an instant Cold Snap can lock Storm down before he can use Ball Lightning to escape an attack. Even a well-placed Tornado can lift him long enough to set up a bigger combo. Invoker’s kit has multiple ways to ground a hero that relies entirely on staying mobile.

The matchup plays out like a duel of initiation. Storm Spirit will look for timings to jump Invoker when key spells are on cooldown, or try to rush an Orchid Malevolence to silence him first. With a silence or a Black King Bar, Storm can often win the one-on-one and snowball from there. Before that timing, Invoker can control the lane and apply global pressure with Sun Strike. It really comes down to which hero gets the drop on the other, but Invoker has more tools to set the terms of the engagement early on.
