Invoker vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Burning through Refraction charges is the core of this matchup. Templar Assassin relies on those charges to survive burst and trade effectively, but many of Invoker's spells apply multiple instances of damage or control. Cold Snap is the classic example, repeatedly stunning her and stripping away her defense with every tick of damage she takes from your team. This forces her to play much more passively than she wants to, as her main defensive tool can be gone in an instant, leaving her vulnerable.

This dynamic doesn't guarantee a win, though. Templar Assassin can still dominate the lane with her raw physical damage if the Invoker isn't careful. The game then becomes a race against her item timings. She wants to get a lead, buy a Black King Bar to ignore your spells, and end the game by bursting down your teammates. Your job as Invoker is to use your global presence and control spells like Tornado and Deafening Blast to slow her down, create pickoffs, and buy enough time for your own team to come online.
