Invoker vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Kiting a Troll Warlord depends entirely on which spells Invoker has ready. Tools like Ice Wall, Tornado, and Cold Snap are excellent for keeping Troll at a distance, preventing him from building up Fervor stacks and connecting with his attacks. An Invoker with good positioning can make Troll's life miserable. However, this all changes once Troll Warlord gets his Black King Bar. He can shrug off the control and run straight at Invoker, who is very fragile and can't survive being focused. Troll’s ultimate, Battle Trance, also ensures he can live through a big combo and turn the fight around.

The mid-game often revolves around Troll Warlord’s Black King Bar timing. His team will want to force fights during that window, while Invoker’s team needs to play defensively and wait it out. A successful gank on either hero can swing the game, as both are crucial to their team's plan. Late-game itemization becomes key; Invoker might need a Ghost Scepter to survive, which forces Troll to consider a Nullifier. Ultimately, the matchup is less about one hero countering the other and more about which team better enables their win condition at the right moment.
