How this matchup plays

Playing against Lion is a test of reaction speed. Juggernaut has a simple and effective answer to Lion's entire toolkit with Blade Fury, which negates all his disables and his Finger of Death. If Juggernaut predicts or reacts to Lion's initiation, he can turn the fight completely, making Lion a very easy kill. However, Lion's lockdown is instant. If he can catch Juggernaut before the spin, especially with help from his team, Juggernaut is fragile enough to be deleted before he can respond. It becomes a duel of who acts first.

This tension defines the matchup from the laning stage onwards. A successful game for Lion involves buying items like a Blink Dagger to get the jump on Juggernaut and burst him during a stun before Blade Fury comes out. Juggernaut's goal is to anticipate this, save his spin for the right moment, and then punish Lion's long cooldowns. An out-of-position Lion is a free kill for Omnislash. Because the fight can swing so hard based on a single well-timed spell from either hero, it often feels like a toss-up.
