Kunkka vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Setting up a kill with X Marks the Spot often plays directly into Witch Doctor's hands. It creates the perfect window for him to land Maledict on Kunkka's chosen target, all but guaranteeing lethal damage after they are pulled back. Kunkka relies on a huge initial burst to secure a kill, but Maledict punishes the target for surviving that initial hit. This turns Kunkka’s signature setup tool into a potential liability for his own team. Paralyzing Cask can also be a real nuisance, bouncing around during a chaotic fight and interrupting Kunkka as he tries to time his Torrent or Ghostship.

This dynamic forces Kunkka to be much more careful about his initiations. What looks like a safe pickoff can quickly backfire if Witch Doctor is in position to counter with his own spells. In teamfights, Kunkka is pressured to either focus Witch Doctor down first or hope his team's burst is overwhelming enough to kill the Maledicted target instantly. The advantage isn't absolute, as a well-timed boat from the fog can still one-shot Witch Doctor. However, Kunkka can't play his usual confident pickoff game with the same freedom, which tilts things in Witch Doctor's favor.
