Legion Commander vs Io

How this matchup plays

It feels like Io should be able to save a Tethered ally from anything, but Legion Commander's Duel presents a unique problem. While Io can still heal and provide buffs to a Dueled target, the forced one-on-one prevents any repositioning. An ally caught by Duel can't be pulled to safety by Tether, nor can they be whisked away with Relocate. Legion Commander bypasses Io's mobility-based saves and forces a static fight, which is often all she needs to win the engagement, especially if her team follows up to overwhelm Io's healing.

As the game progresses, Legion Commander gains a specific advantage in controlling the map's tempo. The constant threat of a Blink Dagger into Duel forces the Io player and their partner to play much more cautiously. What would normally be aggressive Relocate plays become extremely risky if LC is missing. A successful Duel on a fragile support Io is free damage, while catching Io's core forces a predictable, defensive reaction from their whole team. This pressure restricts Io's ability to make proactive plays and forces them into a reactive, less effective posture.
