Lich vs Lifestealer

How this matchup plays

Trying to kill a target protected by Frost Shield is a real problem for Lifestealer. The spell reduces physical damage and slows his attacks, making it hard to stick to a hero even after popping Rage. While Rage lets him ignore Lich's other slows and magical damage, it doesn't stop the Frost Shield effect. This creates a standoff where Lich uses the shield to peel for his cores, and Lifestealer has to decide whether to wait it out or power through it. Sinister Gaze can also lock him down, but only if Rage is on cooldown, making the whole engagement about timing.

Across the game, fights often hinge on baiting these key spells. Lich wants to force an early Rage, then hold Lifestealer in place with Sinister Gaze once it ends. Lifestealer, on the other hand, tries to wait for Frost Shield to be used on someone else before he commits to a kill, or have a teammate ready to break the Gaze channel. Since the outcome is so dependent on player decisions and cooldowns, neither hero has a consistent edge. It really comes down to who executes their plan better in the moment.
