Lich vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

A big Reverse Polarity that clumps multiple heroes together is a dream scenario for Lich. Magnus perfectly sets up the enemy team for a devastating Chain Frost, which can bounce between the stunned targets and wipe the fight before Magnus's team can follow up. Even outside of that ultimate interaction, Lich’s entire kit seems designed to frustrate a Magnus game plan. Empower is all about amplifying physical damage from a core, and Frost Shield is one of the best tools in the game for mitigating exactly that, slowing the attacker in the process.

This forces the Magnus player into a very awkward position. Using Reverse Polarity can easily become a liability, giving Lich the setup he needs. As a result, Magnus has to play much more cautiously, trying to find solo pickoffs with Skewer or waiting until key spells are on cooldown. Lich, on the other hand, can simply play his normal game, protecting his cores with Frost Shield and holding his ultimate for the moment Magnus commits. The core synergy of Magnus's kit is consistently undermined.
