Lich vs Timbersaw

How this matchup plays

Trying to be a durable front-liner against Lich is a losing battle for Timbersaw. His entire damage output, a constant stream of magical cuts from Whirling Death and Chakram, is heavily reduced by Frost Shield. The shield not only lessens the damage but also punishes Timbersaw with a slow for even trying to attack his target. This turns his aggression into a liability. On top of that, Lich can easily interrupt a Timber Chain escape with a well-timed Sinister Gaze, pulling Timbersaw back into danger. The combination of damage reduction, slows, and a hard disable dismantles everything Timbersaw wants to do.

This advantage starts in lane, where Frost Blast makes trading difficult, and scales into teamfights. A Timbersaw that can’t effectively damage key targets or escape is a huge problem for his team. Lich can simply stand back, shield whichever core Timbersaw tries to jump on, and wait for the moment to use Chain Frost on the now-stuck frontline hero. Timbersaw’s only real option is to somehow get a clean jump on Lich first, but with good positioning, that’s a very difficult task. He's forced to play passively, which isn't his strength at all.
