Lich vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Casting Chain Frost into a teamfight with Spectre is a disaster. Her Dispersion reflects a portion of that high magic damage from every bounce, often killing Lich or his allies before the spell even finishes. This turns his most powerful teamfight ability into a major liability. Even Lich's single-target control, Sinister Gaze, is unreliable. An illusion from Haunt can appear and immediately break the channel, leaving its target free. Spectre fundamentally dismantles what Lich wants to do in a fight.

Spectre's game plan is to survive the lane and then hunt supports once she gets her ultimate. Lich is a perfect target: slow, fragile, and often positioned in the back. A Haunt followed by a quick kill with Desolate means Lich might not even get his spells off before he's dead. To counter this, Lich's team has to play protect-the-support, clumping together to save him from the initial jump. This defensive posture gives Spectre's team control of the map, letting her farm safely and choose her engagements.
