How this matchup plays

Using Winter's Curse against Lich's team can be a double-edged sword. The ultimate forces enemies to cluster together and attack a single ally, which creates the ideal setup for a devastating Chain Frost. Lich can target one of the attacking heroes and let his ultimate bounce through their entire clumped team. This turns Winter Wyvern's signature initiation against her. Furthermore, Wyvern’s defensive spell, Cold Embrace, only grants immunity to physical damage, leaving an ally vulnerable to Lich's magical burst from Frost Blast and the follow-up from Chain Frost.

This dynamic makes late-game teamfights incredibly tense. The threat of a counter-play Chain Frost can force the Winter Wyvern to hesitate with her ultimate, potentially losing the window to catch an important core. A smart Wyvern will try to wait out Chain Frost or use Curse on Lich himself before he can react. In response, Lich needs to position carefully and be patient, holding his spell for the moment Wyvern commits.
