Lifestealer vs Morphling

How this matchup plays

Drafting a core that relies on a huge health pool and mobility against a Lifestealer is a gamble. Lifestealer’s damage from Feast scales with his target's health, making Morphling’s main survival tactic—shifting into Strength—actively work against him. The more health Morphling stacks, the faster he dies. On top of this, Rage allows Lifestealer to ignore any magical disables or burst that Morphling or his supports would use for setup. It’s a clean answer to the typical ways you try to control a high-priority target, letting Lifestealer walk right up and start hitting.

This pressure dictates the entire game for the Morphling player. He’s forced to play defensively, unable to shift into full Agility to blow up a target because Lifestealer is always a threat. A gank with Open Wounds means Morphling can't escape with Waveform, and he can’t fight back effectively without the Agility he needs for damage. Lifestealer gets to build his normal items and run at his target, while Morphling has to constantly worry about positioning and itemize for survival, delaying his own impact and making it hard to carry.
