Lina vs Medusa

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Medusa with a full combo is often disappointing for Lina. Even a max-level Laguna Blade won't secure a kill on its own, as Mana Shield will absorb the vast majority of the damage. While this exchange can leave Medusa completely out of mana and vulnerable, she survives the initial assassination attempt that would kill almost any other hero. This fundamentally disrupts Lina's game plan, which relies on deleting a key target at the start of a fight. Medusa simply doesn't get deleted.

Because of this, the game shifts. Medusa can farm with more confidence, knowing she can likely withstand a solo gank from Lina. Lina, in turn, must adjust her targets. She is often better off using her spells to eliminate Medusa's squishier teammates first. A successful Lina will ignore Medusa until her team can burn through the mana pool with other items or spells, creating an opening. The slight edge goes to Medusa because her core design naturally dampens Lina's primary strength, forcing her to play a less ideal game.
