How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a target with Light Strike Array and Laguna Blade often feels like a direct race against an enemy Io. Lina's entire combo is about delivering a massive amount of damage in a very short window. Io’s purpose is to negate exactly that, using Tether to provide a constant stream of healing and defensive buffs that can absorb a significant portion of the initial burst. The outcome of these encounters is entirely dependent on timing and positioning. If Lina catches a hero alone, she gets the kill. If Io is already attached or close enough to react, the target will almost always survive.

This dynamic creates a standoff that lasts the whole game. Lina has to change how she approaches fights, often needing to target Io first or wait for the Tether to be broken. An Io player, in turn, has to anticipate Lina's aggression and shadow the most likely target, making it harder for his own team to spread out and farm the map. Neither hero invalidates the other; they simply force one another into a more cautious and deliberate style of play where a single misstep by either player can decide the fight.
